Ashleigh and my Motorcycle

Posted by Bill Gorham on July 8, 2011 at 3:15 PM

Last Sunday I participated in a photo shoot using myMotorcycle, a 2010 VT1300CT Honda Interstate with a great model named Ashleigh.

Although the weather was threatening rain surprisingly the weather held out andcooperated with us. We were able to get some great shots in.

Many thanks toAshleigh as she proved to be a superb lady to work with, both beautiful andprofessional. To view some of the other shots of of Ashleigh , they can beviewed on my Flickr site at My Flickr site.

Budva Montenegro

Posted by Bill Gorham on June 10, 2011 at 8:07 PM

I recently had a chance to visit Budva, Montenegro on business but had the opportunity to take some time to take some shots.

The weather was fantastic hovering around 28 degrees Celcius and sunny, sunny, sunny. There was some threat of showers but they were staved off. All in all it was a great trip. I met a lot of interesting people there.

Violetta and Me.

Motorcycle Ride for Dad

Posted by Bill Gorham on May 29, 2011 at 6:00 PM

Last weekend I and a couple of friends participated in the Motorcycle Ride for Dad, a charity ride to combat Prostate Cancer. Bonnie, a long time family friend came to visit us for the weekend and she became my passenger on the ride. We had a blast travelling though the countryside and visiting all the little back roads of the area. The weather was perfect, no rain, no wind, temperature was around 22 degrees Celcius and the sun was not blaring in our eyes. Definitely more riding in the future.

These photos were shot by my friend Bonnie using my little point and shoot camera. Hauling out the big DSLR on the back of the bike was a bit problematic. Nevertheless the shots were excellent. Thanks Bonnie.

The Photo Show and the Spirit of Toronto

Posted by Bill Gorham on May 16, 2011 at 2:09 PM

This past weekend was spent in the thriving metropolis of Toronto. I attended two different events in two separate locations on the Saturday. The first was "The Photographic and Digital Imaging Show" at the International Centre. There is where I was able to capture some beautiful shots of the models that they had on the scene. Below is just one. Be sure to check out the gallery to see other shots.

The second event was the "Spirit of Toronto" at the Roy Thompson Hall, a show for one of the finer spirits made, the Single Malt Whisky. Well at least that was my prime reason for attending. Other fine spirits were present as well, some Rum, Cognac and of course the Canadian Rye whiskies. It was a fabulous way to cap the day. I certainly would have liked to sample more that I did but I did want to walk out of there at the end of the night...even if I wasn't driving. Below is a shot taken at one of the Master Classes I attended. The Highland Park. We sampled the 12 y.o., 21 y.o., 25 y.o. and the limited release Highland Park Saint Magnus. Very Delicious.

Can't wait til next year!

My Latest Acquisition

Posted by Bill Gorham on April 26, 2011 at 10:17 PM

For the longest time I have wanted to get a new motorcycle to replace the FZ600 i sold a couple of years ago. Well I finally broke down and picked up a new 2010 Honda VT1300CT Interstate.

This is one of those things that I have added to the camera gear. What better way to take photos that to get there on two wheels. I look forward to the summer and the time on the road to capture some really nice images.

The National Capital

Posted by Bill Gorham on March 9, 2011 at 2:12 PM

A visit to the National capital was made last week and I had some time to walk around the Parliament buildings and snap a few shots. Here is one of the Centre Block and the Peace Tower.

A clear day with not a cloud in the sky provided the perfect background for the shot. It was a little chilly and I wish I had my tripod with me but I am pleased with the shot.

The City Greenhouse

Posted by Bill Gorham on February 13, 2011 at 3:06 PM

Well, I can certainly tell that spring is just around the corner. The city greenhouse is open for public viewing and provided the backdrop for some nice shots. I took my daughter there and gave her my other camera the Nikon D80 with which she took over 275 shots. Some of these were very eclectic but it is amazing the eye she has for finding that special shot.We both look forward to heading back there to see what is going to bloom next.

First Post of the Year

Posted by Bill Gorham on January 4, 2011 at 11:18 PM

Welcome to the first posting of the year. I was out walking around today in the first real accumulation of snow this winter. So far we have been blessed with not having to shovel the driveways and navigate through slush encrusted streets. Since it was so nice I decided to snap some shots of the Barriefield Rock Gardens. These shots were taken this morning as the fluffy white stuff was falling.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year.

Upgrades to Photo Equipment

Posted by Bill Gorham on December 10, 2010 at 1:39 PM

Well it has happened again. I have updated my Camera repetroire to include a new Digital SLR camera. I decided to stick with the Nikon brand only due to the fact that I have a nice lens and want to be able to use it with the new camera.

What did I get do you ask? Well it is obviously a Nikon and I was a little frustrated when I bought my D80 that the D90 came out weeks later with the video capability. I was not going to fall into that problem again. So I bought the latest version of the Nikon Family. The Nikon D7000. A whopping 16.2 Megapixel camera with superior autofocusing capabilities as well as improved low light functionality to take those pictures at dusk.

Here is one of the first pictures that I took with the new camera. And not only was the camera new so was the subject. Our new Golden Retriever puppy Oliver.

You can check out some more of his pictures at my Flickr Site.

You never know what you will find.

While walking through the market one weekend I came upon the cutest new type of flora. Well it appeared at first glance to be flora but in acutality was a little bit of fauna. This little fella was using one of the planters in the park as his own personnal "facility".

The Heat of Battle

Posted by Bill Gorham on September 3, 2010 at 1:11 PM

In the heat of battle and the fog of war there are many things that happen. This shot was taken during a reenactment of a battle in the Revolutionary war.I added a sepia shade to it to give it a more realistic era look.

A day at the Beach

Posted by Bill Gorham on August 16, 2010 at 1:05 PM

A day at the beach allowed me to take a number of photos of my dog playing in the water as well as and more importantly drying out on the beach.

The Beginnings of my Photographic Journey

Well this is the start of my photographic journal. I will attempt to post a picture that I have taken here to expand my portfolio.

This photo of the Kingston harbour with the city hall and the Martello Tower was taken from the Wolfe Islander III.
